OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A woman who filed a petition for a protective order against Oklahoma running back Rodney Anderson is accusing him of sexually assaulting her in her apartment and says she fears for her safety. "Mr. Anderson is shocked and disturbed by (the woman's) claims".
The university said in a very brief statement last night that they are "aware [of the allegations] and are gathering more information".
Anderson's attorney says the woman's allegations are "patently false".
Cold front to bring lower temperatures, showers to New Orleans this week
Forecasters say conditions could be right briefly Friday morning for some snowflakes or frozen rain to fall in the Rock Hill area. Tonight , we'll remain on the warm side with lows in the 60s with only a slight chance of showers, mainly after midnight.
The petition filed against Anderson on Monday alleges the Sooners' rushing leader forced himself on the woman on November 16 and that she remembers "feeling like (she) couldn't get away". The woman said she was planning on taking Uber but that Anderson's friends insisted he take her home. Mr. Anderson did not, nor would he ever, force himself on any woman. She also claims that Anderson bit her, and that when she tried to put clothes on and leave, Anderson asked her what she was doing. No charges have been filed, but a hearing is scheduled for December 18.
The emergency protective order was filed by a University of Oklahoma employee in Cleveland County. There are undoubtedly true victims of sexual assault, for whom Mr. Anderson carries a tremendous amount of compassion. It is incumbent on our community to reserve judgment and to treat this allegation on its own merit.
Chance claims the woman wanted to have a relationship with Anderson after the November 16 encounter and only filed the protective order after Anderson turned her down.
