Instagram confirmed it was testing a new app to Quartz.
In case, Instagram launched Direct globally, for which no current timeline has been given so far, Facebook would become an owner of the third famous messaging tool alongside WhatsApp and Messenger. Think Facebook Messenger mixed with Snapchat, which honestly might be the best idea ever.
Amazon brings Prime Video app to Apple TV
Quite what headway has actually been made in Amazon and Apple's long-running dispute over "business terms" isn't clear. As streaming becomes more and more prevalent, more and more options to stream content become available.
The challenge for Instagram would be to expand Direct at the same time maintaining its simplicity which is the most appealing factor of the app.
According to a new report from The Verge, the Facebook-owned company today confirmed it is testing Direct, "a camera-first app that connects seamlessly back to Instagram", in six countries - Turkey, Italy, Israel, Portugal, Chile, and Uruguay. If you don't live in those countries, you may have to wait a while for Direct to be available to you - but that doesn't mean you can't get excited about the more than likely inevitable global release (I hope!) by learning more about it. A profile screen is to the left, allowing you to adjust settings, move between accounts, or go to Instagram. If you download Direct, your Instagram inbox will be scrubbed from the main app. Now there's a chance that the social media giant could do the same with Instagram. Direct also ships with four exclusive filters and is ultimately seeking to grow its user base even more by providing people with a more focused experience, albeit one that's still deeply integrated into Instagram. "We can push the boundaries to create the fastest and most creative space for private sharing when Direct is a camera-first, standalone app".
Three Dead, Several Injured in New Mexico High School Shooting
The school is located in the Four Corners region and is near the Navajo Nation , about 180 miles north of Albuquerque. The Bloomfield Police Department is asking parents to stay away from the school until further notice.
Personally, I don't mind Direct much. Also, the new app just seems really cool. While photos are encouraged, you're not limited to using them.
Dubbed Direct, the experimental app opens in camera mode - just like Snapchat. In January, TechCrunch reported that the launch of Instagram Stories had resulted in lower usage of Snapchat Stories. But as long as Direct is a part of Instagram, expanding the platform would get increasingly hard for the company.
Obama in Chicago on Tuesday for Rahm climate summit
The Chicago Climate Charter , signed Tuesday, commits cities to carbon emissions reductions in line with the Paris accords. Former US President Barack Obama has spoken of his frustration that America is pulling out of the 2015 climate accord.
The Direct app is a bit barren at the moment. Whether that happens later or not remains to be seen but it makes sense for it to be within the messaging app.
