The lawsuit has supposedly been filed by Stefan Bogdanovich, a Los Angeles man who is claiming that Apple's tactic of slowing down older iPhone models is making the lives of users who aren't willing to shell out the kind of cash needed for the newest devices hard.
Apple said it released software previous year that makes those models operate more slowly to countervail problems with their aging lithium ion batteries, which can sometimes cause operational problems or cause phones to unexpectedly shut down.
Previous year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions.
Facebook signs deal with Universal Music Group over videos that contain songs
Neither Facebook nor UMG are saying how much today's deal is worth, only describing it as a "global, multi-year agreement". The companies did not say when users would be able to share music in videos on platforms owned by Facebook .
Apple's logic checks out.
When an iPhone's processor makes a big current draw from a flagging battery, the battery can deliver the current in spikes that can potentially damage the phone's electronics. The handset would unexpectedly shut down to protect itself, which is something 2016 iPhone users may remember as widespread problem.
Bogdanovich claims Apple's decision to slow the operation of older phones to save battery life was never requested or agreed upon. and it lowers the value of their phones. Apple didn't say exactly what the threshold is for slowing down a device, but battery life rated as "Poor" or worse is likely to be a problem. Although it's expected that battery life tends to lessen as a device gets older, due to the increased volume of recharging cycles, associated performance shouldn't grind to a halt.
Now that degrading battery performance with time is in the spotlight - and has been linked to sluggish performance - will that impact iPhone sales? Before changing the battery, the Geekbench scores were 1466 for single core and 2512 multi core.
Reported flu cases triple locally
Health officials did not know if the child had underlying health issues or if the child was vaccinated for the flu this season. Last week , a Yukon elementary school was forced to close its doors after 115 students and 10 teachers called in sick.
If you have an older Apple iPhone and think it seems to run a bit too slow, you're on to something.
When the iPhone 7 was released a year ago, Business Insider reported on a survey of buyers that listed the reasons why they upgraded. If you've got an older phone that is playing up, the cause is likely somewhere else.
The update applies to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, 6S and 6S Plus and SE. Apple subsequently extended that functionality to include the iPhone 7. However, when using iOS 11.2.0, the graph showed more peaks again, suggesting the performance is impacted the older the device becomes. Owners can also purchase a kit to replace the battery.
Some users reported seeing their phone's performance more than cut in half as the device aged.
