Pennsylvania judge Genece Brinkley sentenced Mill, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, to two-to-four years behind bars for the probation violation, and JAY-Z was among the celebrities who slammed the sentence.
Mill's lawyer has vowed to appeal.
The 30-year-old was convicted of drug dealing and gun possession in 2008, and received a prison sentence of 11-to-23 months.
Labour calls for probe into Priti Patel meetings in Israel
The Foreign Office, it said, was "clear that United Kingdom interests were not damaged or affected by the meetings on this visit". May yesterday summoned Patel to No 10 to "remind her of the obligations which exist under the ministerial code".
Mill, whose most recent album, "Wins and Losses", reached number three on the United States album chart this year, was sentenced over a case dating from when the 30-year-old was a teenager. He spent a few months in jail and was released early.
In a statement, JAY-Z, who runs Roc Nation, the management company that Mill is signed with, called the sentence "unjust and heavy handed". Mill was arrested in March at St. Louis International Airport and charged with misdemeanor assault after an altercation with two airport employees.
The judge was unaffected by his plea and ordered him to be taken into custody.
Fox held talks to sell most of company to Disney
The deal does not include, however, the Fox News network or its local broadcasting affiliates. But Disney would also "add entertainment networks" such as FX and NatGeo ( CNBC .com, 11/6).
However, Judge Brinkley is reported to have said that she's been trying to help Meek Mill for 10 years but the rapper does what he wants. In October, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving after a video was posted of him doing wheelies on a dirt bike in New York City.
The sentence came as a surprise after prosecutors recommended Mill not be imprisoned for the probation violations, noting he's been off drugs since January and has complied with most requirements of probation. To many, the sentence seemed stiff, especially considering the violation came as a result of two arrests for crimes that he was eventually acquitted for, and the parole was for a crime that occurred nearly a decade ago.
