Important to note that a minor can not be sued directly, which means there's a chance Epic did not know of the 14-year old's identity at the time.
Not only that, but the mother makes a convincing argument that it would be hard for Epic to prove in court that her underage son was bound by its end user licensing agreement (EULA) given that Fortnite is a free-to-play game and its EULA did not contain an option for underage users to obtain parental consent, which she says she never gave.
The mother, however, claims that her son did not modify the game or create the cheat sofware, nor was he given consent to play the game in the first place.
One way you could argue profit loss is the fact that, by cheating, some players can be turned off from playing Fortnite and by extension, they don't buy the game's microtransactions. After this though, Epic went a bit further by suing two cheaters, one of whom is a minor who chose to speak out about it on YouTube, and this is where things start getting more interesting and more complicated.
