CBS and Dish Network have reached an agreement, ending a blackout in some markets and allowing Dish customers in the Boise area to once again watch CBS content, including football games. Luckily, Dish and CBS reached a multi-year agreement 12 hours after the blackout.
The companies announced the resolution late Thursday.

The fact that CBS continues to keep its channels off Dish's Sling TV highlights how selective the broadcast network has been when making online TV partnerships. CBS said in a statement Wednesday morning that "we obviously want to strike a fair deal" but "we remain far apart on terms". The new deal includes retransmission consent for CBS-owned TV stations, including KCBS (Channel 2) and KCAL (Channel 9) in Los Angeles. The new deal covers networks including CBS, CBS Sports Network, Pop, and the Smithsonian channel.
The two-day blackout affected both the San Diego and Dallas-Arlington metro regions, as well as several other major markets, including New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta and Boston. Dish's 13.2 million customers are important to advertisers on CBS, which also counts on the satellite carrier's subscriber fees.

There have been 212 programming blackouts on various pay-TV systems in 2017 - more than double the number from past year, according to the American Television Alliance, a Washington-based group that represents cable and satellite TV providers.
