Based on feedback provided by other Reddit users, the issue doesn't appear to affect all iPhone Xs. At this point, the screen does not work reliably in terms of registering touch-based inputs. Early adopters were reporting that the new flagship needs just a few seconds to stop detecting touches in temperatures around 0 degrees Celsius (or 32 degrees Fahrenheit).
A post on the Apple website from September states, "Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off".
